Care Instructions
Our garments are made from the finest natural silk fabrics. To ensure their beauty and longevity, please follow the care instructions below.
Sustainability & Thoughtful Care Labeling
At Deepa Dosaja, we are committed to sustainability and mindful garment design. One of the ways we uphold this commitment is by minimizing the use of traditional care tags, which are typically made from nylon or polyester—synthetic materials that contribute to microplastic pollution.
Beyond environmental concerns, care tags can also be irritating to the skin, especially on delicate silk garments, and may disrupt the natural flow and drape of the fabric. Many of our customers prefer a clean, seamless finish without bulky tags that can be uncomfortable or visible through sheer fabrics.
Instead of care tags, we provide detailed care instructions online and directly communicate them with our customers. This approach not only reduces waste but also allows us to update and refine care information over time, ensuring the best guidance for maintaining the longevity and beauty of your garments.
Crepe Silk (92% Silk, 8% Elastane)
- Dry Clean Recommended – For best results, professional dry cleaning is advised.
- Machine Wash or Hand Wash Option – If washing at home, use the mildest setting on your machine, with cold water (max 30°C) and a gentle, natural detergent.
- Drying – Lay flat or hang to dry in the shade. Avoid wringing or tumble drying.
- Ironing – Use a low heat setting with steam or a silk-friendly iron. Iron on the reverse side or use a pressing cloth to prevent sheen.

Raw Silk (Lined & Unlined with Silk)
- Dry Clean Only – Raw silk has a delicate weave that can be affected by water. Professional dry-cleaning is necessary to maintain its texture and color.
- Ironing – Use a medium heat setting with steam. Iron on the reverse side or use a pressing cloth to prevent sheen.
- Storage – Store in a cool, dry place, away from moisture and direct sunlight.
Dupion Silk
- Dry Clean Only – Water can stain and alter the structure of Dupion silk, so professional cleaning is required.
- Handling Water & Stains – Avoid contact with water. If a spill occurs, blot gently with a clean, dry cloth and take it for professional cleaning.
- Ironing – Use a medium heat setting with steam. Always iron on the reverse side or use a pressing cloth.
- Storage – Keep in a breathable garment bag, away from direct sunlight, to maintain its crisp texture and vibrant color.
